SINGER Futura CE-250 Sewing Machine Review–Best Computerized Embroidery Machine

SINGER Futura CE-250 Sewing Machine Review

As the name suggests, the Singer Futura CE250 Sewing and Embroidery Machine is a product of the future, combining embroidery and sewing into one machine with state-of-the-art technology.

For starters, the internal frame on the Singer Futura CE250 is aluminum. Not near as heavy as metal, the rigid internal frame supports all the mechanisms in perfect alignment for beautiful, skip-free sewing. The same dependability with a lot less weight!

There is also a convenient lever that allows you to lower the feed dogs for free-motion embroidery, machine embroidery, monogramming, and attaching buttons.

Pros
  • You are provided with great technical support. Where other machines may offer merely a manual and/or the on screen help menu, the CE250 offers assistance via the web 24/7.
  • There is a large variety of provided sewing and embroidery designs for you to choose from. Plus the provided software allows you to modify these designs and even download new ones from the Internet to transfer directly into your sewing machine.
  • It’s affordable. Even though MSRP is $899, this is a bargain for the features offered. Plus you can easily find this machine new on Ebay for a 3rd of that. As low as $500!
Cons
  • The manual can be hard to understand. Luckily however, you have the provided website to help alleviate this minor problem. (It certainly helped me!)
  • The learning curve can be steep. In the event you are not familiar with any features other than basic sewing, you might find this machine a little intimidating. But in the event you are not familiar with any features other than basic sewing, you would find any embroidery machine a little intimidating. And that is nothing that a little practice couldn’t remedy.
  • You need to have some computer knowledge (plus a computer) to operate the embroidery and software features of this machine as they are not built directly into the unit. This is one of the features however, that help make this embroidery machine so affordable.

All In All:

Speaking of buttons, you won’t be frustrated at all with the 6 different built-in one step button, or the Singer exclusive buttonhole under-plate offered by the Singer futura CE250.

This is a SINGER® developed system that sandwiches the fabric between the foot and a lower plate that ensures perfect buttonholes on multiple layers of fabric. This is almost like you have a mini-embroidery hoop where the machine feeds the attachment, rather than the fabric.

It makes creating buttonholes possible in places that conventional buttonhole devices cannot easily reach.

And it doesn’t stop there. Other features include: built in stretch stitches; built in quilting stitch; twin needle function; 7mm stitch width; and programmable needle up and down. I have to confess – I love this machine! And I know you will too.
